Quetzalcoatl Art Car
The Houston Art Car Parade, a vibrant celebration fueled by The Orange Show, bursts with over 250 awe-inspiring entries from across North America. Drawing a crowd of 300,000 enthusiasts, these art cars redefine self-expression, transforming vehicles into whimsical creations and radical masterpieces.
Our team channeled their creativity into a fiery tribute to Quetzalcoatl. Transforming a 1975-93 Volvo 240 into a magnificent dragon, a collective of artists, architects, and consultants spent seven months meticulously crafting every detail. Shimmering scales and a fierce visage brought the ancient legend to life.
Led by Daniela Arce, Blake Whitaker, Dustin Nicholson, Linh Lam, Alex Alvarez, and Angel Albarran, & Oscar Uvalle our creation roared onto the scene, captivating audiences and securing a well-deserved 2nd place finish. This wasn’t just an art car; it was imagination taking flight.

Materials: (multimedia) 1 Vintage Volvo, chicken wire, muslin, spray paint, glitter, printed and non printed metal, mardigras beads, printed glass, seran wrap, blue tape, lots of glue, MDF board, mechanical motor, and 2 smoke machines.
